Locksmiths①
鍵の仕事に携わる人を、英語でlocksmithと言います。MLA(Master Locksmiths Association )という団体は、イギリスのlocksmithを代表し、認証する非営利組織です。MLAはイギリスのlocksmithを厳密な検査を経て認証し、MLAのホームページ上で、イギリス国内のlocksmithを検索できるサービスを提供しています。
MLAのホームページにはSecurity Adviceも掲載されています。その中に、一人暮らしをする大学生のための住居の防犯アドバイスがありました。一部、紹介します。
•貴重品(高価なノートパソコン、テレビ、家庭用娯楽機器等を含む)は、ドアや窓から離して置き、見えないようにしておきましょう。そして、不在にする場合は必ず部屋に鍵をかけるようにしましょう。
•玄関マットや植木鉢の下に鍵を置かないで下さい。犯罪者はそれらの隠し場所を良く分かっていて、特に学生の居住区でこの隠し方が使われることを知っています。犯罪者はまず第一にそれらの場所を調べることが多いので、犯罪者に、容易に学生の住居に侵入し、財産を入手する手段を与えてしまいます。

A person who works with locks and keys is called ”locksmith” in English. Master Locksmiths Association (MLA) is a not for profit trade association representing and approving Locksmiths in the United Kingdom. MLA approves locksmiths through vetting and inspection, and provide locksmiths locator in the United Kingdom on the website.
MLA also has security advice on the website. I introduce a part of the advice, ”Security Advice & Tips For Students In Accommodation”.
•Be sure to keep valuable items out of sight, away from doors or windows, and remember to lock rooms whenever they’re not in.

最近2人の方が入社されました。
とても熱意があり真面目な方々なので、
不器用で要領のわるい私はあっという間に追い抜かされてしまうだろうと危機感を感じてしまいます。
鍵の仕事と言われても、
一般の方は合鍵を作るのだろうというの以外にどんなことをするのかさっぱりわからないと思います。
鍵の交換や取付と言われてもイメージがわかなくて当然です。
私は、幼い頃から鍵屋になりたかった！鍵の仕事をやってみたい！
など思ったことが1ミリもありません。
実際、私もこの会社へ来るまでは全く何もわかりませんでした。
元々鍵への興味は特になかったので、知識も技術もゼロの状態で私は入社しました。
しかし、会社の先輩方が優しく丁寧に教えて下さり、質問すればいつでも快く答えて下さります。

私の場合は毎日平均100km強ほど運転します。
大阪にある弊社では、大阪を中心に神戸と京都によく行きます。
割合的には少ないですが、奈良や、たまに滋賀にもいきます。
私は景色を眺めるのが好きなので、滋賀や奈良にいった時にはのどかな風景を眺めたくなります。
滋賀などに行った時は、
休憩がてら少しばかり昼ごはんに牛丼とカツ丼とうどんとサンドイッチとアイスクリームを買って景色を眺めながら食べるのが楽しみだったりします。

We go to so many various places for our work. I drive about 100 kilometers each day on average. Our company being in Osaka, we often go to places in Osaka, Kobe, and Kyoto. Though less frequently, we sometimes go to Nara and Shiga, too.

用手一摸，糟糕，裤子撤了。
像这样的事在我的人生中也就只经历了5回。脑袋一片空白。幸亏我早有防备。为这个时候，一直带着一条备用裤。
体重不过100kg的我，想必原因大家可想而知。

钥匙年年革新，比起以前，有些钥匙安全防范性能有着飞跃性提高。
换句话说，以前有些钥匙很容易入侵，防范性能很低。
现在想来觉得很幸运。我之前住的房子锁很脆弱，也时常会听到附近有发生入侵事件。
现在知道实际，稍微具备点知识就可以打开。想想都觉得很后怕。
简而言之，如若仍在使用大概10年之前的锁的话，防范性能低的可能性很大。

鍵は年々進化していて、昔のものに比べると防犯性が飛躍的に上がっているものもあります。
逆を言えば、昔の鍵の中には簡単に侵入されてしまう防犯性が低いものもあります。
実際、ある程度知識のある今考えると、
私が昔住んでいた家の鍵はなかなか脆弱なものでした。
すぐ近所で侵入事件もあったため、
被害にあわなかったのが幸運だったと思います。
一概には言えませんが、10年近くは前からある鍵をお使いだと、
もしかしたら防犯性が低い可能性もあります。

Actually, looking back on the past based on knowledge I have acquired since I started working for this company, I find that a house I used to live had a fragile lock. An break-in had happened in the immediate vicinity, so I think I was lucky to escape a crime like that.
I can’t make a sweeping judgment, but I think that if you have continued using a lock made nearly ten years ago, it may provide poor performance in crime-prevention.
